Every year around Halloween, DC’s drag queens gather on 17th Street and race for glory — all while wearing high heels. It’s simply spectacular. If you’re a drag queen, you should definitely participate but, if you’re not, you should go watch! This year it’s being held on Tuesday, October 26, between P and S (closest Metro is Dupont Circle). Be aware, this event gets VERY crowded and the race itself isn’t very long. So if you want to be able to see anything, you should plan on arriving well before the 9 p.m. race time. That being said, even if you can barely catch a glimpse of the actual race, the atmosphere itself is still really fun. Drag Queens are decked out in amazing costumes, people are everywhere, it’s a good ole time.
