Welcome to DC … and to my blog!

9 Sep

I’ve lived in DC for almost four years — practically a lifetime among DC’s transient population. I’ve fallen in love with the city and discovered many of its ins and outs. My goal with this blog is to help newcomers navigate the area, both literally and figuratively. I’ll give info and advice on everything from the metro to where to go on the weekend to the popular gripes of residents. And please let me know if there’s something you want advice on.

Thanks for reading!

HELP! I currently live in Bethesda but not the cool part near the bars so it is still pretty residential and there isn’t much in walking distance. I am looking into moving into DC but as a 27 year old female I am a little nervous. I would not call myself a city girl by any means but I am ready for a change. I have a dog and a new car that I would be sad to sell so I need to consider that too. My office is in Rockville and they offer a shuttle to and from the office every 15minutes so aside from having a longer morning commute I don’t think I will run into many issues there. I am not opposed to keeping my car and driving to my office though. I found your site doing silly google searches such as “new to dc-help” and “how to live in dc” mostly because I do not understand all of the neighborhoods. I do understand NE, NW, SE and SW and it is pretty apparent I really only want to consider NW. Your site has great information about things to do and see once you live in DC but any advice on making the initial move?
